Beat The Heat At Our Next Happy Hour – Shaw’s Tavern!

shawstavernRemember how unseasonably cold and rainy it was just a few days ago? Guess we’re done with that! Because it’s now officially hot. Naturally we have just the place for you to beat the heat.

Please join us for our next Happy Hour
at Shaw’s Tavern
(6th & Florida Ave, NW.,
1 block east of Shaw Howard University Metro Station)
on Tuesday, June 28
from 5:30 PM – 8 PM
(Suggested donation – $20)
We have the upstairs reserved for this event, and we invite you to come and meet a couple of really special people.
Our first guest speaker will be Petrina Williams, an alumna and now board member of NEW–she will share her experiences using the services and resources provided by NEW to transition out of homelessness. Also, we’ll hear from Georgetown Professor Bill Novelli, a businessman and former CEO of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) who will share his experience with the nonprofit world, co-founding Porter Novelli, one of the world’s largest public relations firms, and directing recruitment efforts for the Peace Corps.
Shaw’s has generously offered to provide happy hour specials including half-priced pizza and burgers. Please join us!

It’s been a challenging time for all of us as we adjust our days, our budgets and our expectations to COVID-19. And now, add a city and country grasping for footing after the death of an unarmed black man by a white police officer and we all feel even more out of control, unstable, and concerned about the future. Here at NEW we know that one way we can process our own feelings is to think about the needs and feelings of others.

We need you. The women need you. Your community needs you. Now more than ever women and children in DC need a safe and stable place to live.
