Our YEP! Program serves youth

ER-Class-session-2Now in its second year, our Youth Enrichment Program (YEP!) provides academic support and life skills development to our youth residents in grades 1 to 8. The program is funded largely by a generous grant from the Freddie Mac Foundation/Children and Family Legacy Fund.

YEP! utilizes the Early Risers “Skills for Success” model to engage children in parents in the children’s scholastic achievement, especially reading and math, as well as their social growth. YEP! operates during the school year and summer months, giving children a full year of support and enrichment activities.

The program also connects our children to community resources such as the Boys and Girls Club. For our school kickoff, we provided children with school supplies, helped with school uniforms for families in need, and connected families to the Summer Resource Fair hosted by the North Capitol Collaborative. YEP! has volunteer opportunities available for interested adults to serve as homework helpers/tutors (weekends during the school year) and summer program support staff.
